G2B Group & Techdirt Describe "Enterprise Blogging":
Techdirt's Mike Masnick and I wrote "Elevating the Information Function" for ExpertPR.
The article discusses a novel remedy for something that continues to waste companies' PR budgets: managing industry information and intelligence. Techdirt's Corporate Intelligence folks have a mighty good idea — the outsourced "enterprise blog" — that provides digestible, just-in-time information and *gasp* actual analysis, which is lacking in the average "tracker" or "news scan."
I and the other G2B Group members find the enterprise blog concept very compelling.

Thanks to all for the great interest in Tapeout. While we're on the subject, here's an article about authoring great email newsletters with "personality."

Interviewed On Blogging:
Available on the G2B Group site — and thoughtfully blogged in Dan Gillmor's eJournal — is my most recent interview on blogging. This ran in the Jan. 6, 2003, edition of Ragan's Media Relations Report. More excerpts will be available when the January 2003 Tapeout newsletter publishes, which should be very soon.

Blogservations Roars...Limps...Back After Hiatus:
Many apologies.
I mean, I get so many great emails from you folks, which read like a variation of "I want my MTV!" I'm sorry that it's been nearly a month since the last update. Things have been incredibly topsy-turvy, so I thank you for your patience.
Postings are resuming now. And, boy, do I have a lot to say...
First, Ragan's Media Relations Report interviewed me, Kevin Dugan, and others for an article on blogging. Can't give you a link 'cause it's a subscription-based newsletter. Here are some excerpts, though:
Many journalists have started their own blogs, explains Phil Gomes, co-founder of ... communications firm G2B Group, and writer of his own blog at http://www.philgomes.com/. "Many blogs are run by highly influential folks who, by building a blog, offer previously unavailable insight into their work," Gomes says. Why have blogs, which have been around since the dawn of the Internet, become hot stuff now? "Many in so-called traditional media use the major blogs as tip sheets," Gomes explains. (That’s how news of Trent Lott’s previous careless comments about Strom Thurmond’s segregationist past made national news.) Gomes’ advice: "Look at Blogdex or Daypop to see what kind of content tends to disseminate through the blogging community. Both are listings of the most ‘blogged’ stories on the Web, and are always a first-thing-in-the-morning browser destination for me." "The problem is usually that PR folks who try to pitch a blog do so while masquerading as a member of the community," he explains. "Big no-no. If they must pitch a blog, they must determine whether the blog offers reader — or PR — contributions."
