CNET On Technology's "Sweeps Week"
CNET's Mike Kanellos wrote a great piece on how technology companies tend to cluster their competing announcements around each other's. He likens it to what broadcasters call "sweeps week."
It's an odd form of herd mentality. I especially like how the writer condensed the typical presentation into haiku. For my part, I have communicated in haiku with Semico Research Corp. analyst Jim Handy since about 1998 or so. Don't ask. *8-)

An Awesome Graphical Search Engine
My business partner Jane Dryden just pointed me toward this amazing graphical search engine called KartOO. It really does a good job of showing the interrelations between pages and ideas.
For example, a search for my name yields -- among other things -- this site's homepage at that of G2B Group's. The link between the two is the word "founder," since the fact that I'm G2B Group's co-founder is mentioned on both sites.
Fascinating stuff...

Biting The Hand That Feeds
I'm wondering what kind of counterintuitive strategy PeopleSoft's executive PR is employing.
First, PeopleSoft CEO Craig Conway blasts the industry's "Microsoft Dependency" during the launch of its products for the Linux platform.
Now we have Mr. Conway referring to Microsoft's ".Net" platform as "IT asbestos."
I'd be willing to be money that a good part of their middle-market deployments run Windows NT or 2000. I'd also be willing to bet that PeopleSoft makes a LOT of money off of the Windows platform.
Publicly demonstrating your support for Linux is an incredibly smart move, if a belated one for PeopleSoft. I'm sure it was possible to do so without engaging in all-too-trendy Microsoft bashing.
Mr. Conway, please leave that kind of thing for Scott McNealy.

I Guess I Need To Explain
I've been out of circulation for some time, so I figured that I'd give you all a quality update.
It's been almost two months since my last posting, which is incredibly hard to believe. Thanks so much to everyone who sent me all those emails asking me whether or not I was blogging anymore or, frankly, even alive.
Answer: No, I have not assumed room temperature. I've been incredibly busy.
First, I've got two clients now: One is a pre-launch startup and the other is open-source educator extraordinaire Cameron S. Hunt. G2B Group has placed Cam at two open-source-related conferences where he will be talking about his passion: the intersection between Linux, clustering, data federation, and the Semantic Web.
I've also deepened my commitments to SFSU. I will be co-teaching with Roberta Silverstein from mid-June to mid-July about online public relations. I'm actively in the throes of putting together updated lecture notes.
Richard Funcheon and I are still playing music. We're coming up with some great stuff. Hopefully, we'll have some MP3's generated at some point and I can post them here.
Then there is the studying for the GRE.
I'll be a bit more diligent about posts from here on out. Thanks again to Blogservations readers who have cajoled me into keeping this going.
